Square chip breaker, made of phenolic material, are installed in table recess in most models of Hoffmann dovetail joining machines. (Some models of larger P-series routing machines as well as double miter saws use different styles of chip breakers, see owner’s manuals for details).
These chip breakers effectively reduce or eliminate tear-out on underside of moulding by providing a backer surface during routing operation.
Any chip breaker should be replaced whenever wear is evident to assure best results.
Note:
New square chip breakers are supplied with new Hoffmann dovetail router bits at no charge. If you require a parallelogram shaped chip breaker for your MUC or X15 machine be sure to specify when placing your order.
