Overview:
Four motor production-duty, freestanding four-head dovetail routing machine with solid cast aluminum table and heavy steel frame.
Equipped with four router motors to rout two keyways into two workpieces at the same time.
Distance between keyways is operator adjustable from1 1/4" - 4". (32mm - 100mm)
For Dovetail Keys sizes W-0,W-1, W-2, W-3.
Highlights:
Large work surface is designed to be at a comfortable working height, the router motors are controlled by a contactor and a 4” dust collection port is located at the back for connection to a central dust collection system.
Individual selector switches on front panel allow operator to shut-off far left and far right router motors if small moulding needing only one keyway is processed.
PP2-TAB/4 can rout or two keyways with different routing heights for profiled moulding (PVC plantation shutter frame sample shown)
Operation:
The keyway locations are adjusted by positioning the guided center fence plate on the machine table and by moving a hand-wheel to adjust the router bit spacing.
The keyway lengths (routing heights) are adjusted by setting the height-stop rods to the desired setting.
PP2-TAB/4 model has three height adjustment rods: left motor - two center motors - right motor to allow the use of tow different length Dovetail Keys in one miter.Sister model PP2-TAB has all four router motors on a common base and only one height adjustment rod - this is the right choice if only flat stock is being processed (two Dovetail Keys with same length per miter).

Pressing the pneumatic foot pedal starts the machining cycle:
> Pneumatic clamps secure both work-pieces and motors are switched on
> Router heads advance until pre-set height is reached
> Router heads return to home position and motors are switched off
> Pneumatic clamps release work-pieces
PP2-TAB/4 - Mechanical digital counter displays distance between router bits
Output is approx. 16 routing strokes per minute, which translates into 4 completely processed rectangular frames. These numbers include material handling, but obviously depend on routing depth, feed speed, material flow and operator performance as well. Flow control valves on the main pneumatic cylinder allow the operator to adjust the upward and downward feed rate independently, depending on the material being processed. A 4" diameter dust collection port in the back is used to connect a central dust collection system.
The supplied router bits are solid tungsten carbide, made to exacting specifications. Depending on the routing depth and the material to be routed, the useable cutter life is approx. 10,000 strokes, often times even more. Every machine is shipped with a tool kit and set-up jig, which allows a router bit change in only minutes.
