Product DescriptionThe JFA-series Louver Grooving Machines are designed for the automated production of fixed-slat louver doors and panels. The machines are manufactured by the Goetzinger company in southwestern Germany, near the Black Forest and Hoffmann Machine Company, Inc. is proud to be the exclusive importer and distributor for the United States, Canada and Mexico. We also service clients in other overseas countries. The machine design has been proven for decades, with machines in operation in workshops around the globe. The simple yet elegant mechanical operation sets these machines apart from complex, numerically controlled routers.Having a machine without touchscreen, without software, without servo motors, without electronic sensor also means reliability, ease of adjustment and no worries about parts or software becoming obsolete in the future. Two machine models are available:JFA 57 Louver Grooving MachineHas maximum slot length of 2” (52mm) from 0-34° and 2.25 (57mm) from 35°-45° and produce a maximum 28 cutting strokes per minute (38 in softwoods) JFA 85 Louver Grooving Machinehas a maximum slot length of 3.35” (85mm) and can produce a maximum of 18.5 cutting strokes per minute (due to longer slot length) For most exterior shutter panels and louvered doors, the JFA 57 is the best choice. A true mechanical masterpiece, the heavy-duty cam-drive is located in the center of the machineIt automatically releases the work-piece clamps, advances both workpieces, activates the clamps, lowers and moves the router heads and repeats the process until the last slot after which the machine shuts itself off. Benefits at a glance:
- Two stiles are machined simultaneously as matched pairs
- Slots lengths, slot angles and slot depths are quickly and easily adjusted
- Steel templates assure exact slot spacing without the need for manual layout work
- Clip-on riders are used for non-slotting sections for cross-rails or center rails
- Safe, reliable workpiece clamps with quick-action design
- The router motor is totally enclosed, self-cooling and dust proof
The heavy machine design and high-speed spindles (15,000rpm) assure clean, tear-free slots in wood species. All adjustments are quick and intuitive and tooling changes take mere minutes.JFA machines can rout full or enclosed slots as well as slots that extend past the edge of the material (basically creating a notch across the stile). A mechanical cam-drive system governs the automatic sequence of feed, workpiece clamping and slotting operation. Long-lasting accuracy and reliability is assured because the machine does not rely on sensors, limit switches or programming.Steel templates available with a variety of different notch spacing, as well as custom templates are available to suit every design need.Slotting can be interrupted at any point with clip-on riders, for example to create a solid wood surface for intersecting for cross-rails.The feed mechanism stops automatically after the final slot has been routed. Processing in pairsWorkpieces are processed automatically on the JFA Louver Grooving Machine; after loading and starting the machining cycle the operator can step away from the machine until the stiles are finished. In a single machining cycle, the slots for the left and right side shutter stile are routed in tandem, with absolute accuracy. The router spindles descend vertically into the material thus protecting the motor above from chips and flying debris. Only three adjustments are needed:a) Two hand wheels on top of the machine (1) are calibrated in degrees and are used to select the slot angles.b) With a few simply operation the sector control (2) is adjusted for slot length.c) The slotting depth is quickly dialed-in with the knurled knob (3) Technical Data JFA 57 JFA 85 Power Supply 230 volt, 3 phase 230 volt, 3 phaseCompressed air supply 90 psi (6 bar) 90 psi (6 bar)Compressed air consumption 245 cubic feet/min (7m3/min) 245 cubic feet/min (7m3/min)Router Motor 3HP (2.2kW) 3HP (2.2kW)Feed Motor 0.20HP (0.3kW) 0.20HP (0.3kW)Spindle Speed (2 spindles) 15,000 rpm 15,000 rpmFeed rates – cutting strokes per minute 28 softwood, 38 hardwood 18.5 hard and softwoodDust collection port 3 1/8” (80mm) 3 1/8” (80mm) Max. slot length 2” (52mm) from 0-34° -- 2 1/4” (57mm) from 35°-45° 3 11/32” (85mm)Max. slot depth 9/16” (14mm) 9/16” (14mm) Number of slots (in two stiles) – per minute 56 hardwood – 76 softwood 37 hard or softwoodMin. workpiece dimensions (width x height) 3/4” (19mm) x 1 1/2” (40mm) 3/4” (19mm) x 1 1/2” (40mm)Max. workpiece dimensions (width x height) 2” (50mm) x 5 1/2” (140mm) 2” (50mm) x 5 1/2” (140mm)Slot angle adjustment range (min. – max.) 0° - 45° 0° - 45°Slot spacing (min. – max.) 1 1/8” (28mm) – 2 1/4” (58mm) 1 1/8” (28mm) – 3 1/8” (80mm)Workpiece length (min. – max.) 15 3/4” (400mm) – 96 1/2” (2,450mm) 15 3/4” (400mm) – 96 1/2” (2,450mm) Machine Dimensions (L x W x H) 122” (3100mm) x 191/4” (490mm) x 122” (3100mm) x 191/4” (490mm) x 571/4” (1455mm) 571/4” (1455mm)Weight 660 lbs.
